| A new Still Life that I set up and Painted. This is an oil on canvas that is 24 x 30. I first painted the entire canvas with two coats of acrylic mixing burnt umber and dark purple and then did my painting in oils over this dark background. I have used this dark color in the pitcher and the background, or, should I say, I left it where I needed this dark color without painting over it. This worked fine in many areas but it was difficult to work over this dark area in the flowers and required many coats and glazes to achieve the desired effect. |

I can understand the difficulty in painting over the dark, but the results are well worth the effort. The depth and vibrancy of this piece is excellent. It has a glow to it. I almost smell the roses and feel the texture of the foilage. I also like the out of focus background. Good Job!!! Keep it up. Peggy |

Hi Phil Great work. Liked the depth created in the painting. Thought if the roses in the front had some more reflected shades of surrounding objects (like the roses in the back), they would gel more into the painting. Sandeep |
