I have been working on this portrait for about 8 months... The Family moved to Australia and now will be back in the States to live in October... Still working on finishing... So I am hoping they will love it... this has been the hardest portrait I have done... Also here is a close up as well... thanks for your ideas!

HI Carver - very nice - I love how you do lacework. Your faces are also very real and fine. Do you use very small brushes - how big is this painting? I know you must be sick of hearing this... but you are so good at what you do.

Classically beautiful, Carver!
I actually like this one better than any I've seen so far. It is more in a 'classic' style and I appreciate that...

Absolutly BEAUTIFUL!  The flowers in the chair really caught my eye!  So real looking.  The little girl's dress is so detailed, you can feel the lace!  I am sure the family will love it!

I am new to oils, do you allow each later to dry somewhat, or are you working wet into wet?

Thank you for letting us see this in process Carver! Lets us see some of your technique. This reminds me of some photos of my mother
as a little girl in the 1930's. At the time I think the photographer would tint the photograph to add color. That color of eyes you can't make up!
Do you use a fan brush to add hair highlights...(I've found it to be really realistic)? Perhaps the curtains will be darker in hue to frame the child and
chair? I found myself wondering what the chair seat would look like in a soft sage green...but then I'm a soft color person. Don't let the childs
face fall too round. Lace is wonderful as usual...this picture is I think harder than it appears.

Carver, I can't say anything new to compliment you on your technique, colors, etc. because this is absolutely beautiful, just like the others. How do you set out to paint the spirit of a child that is sweet, and doesn't want to stay still for very long? I don't know, but you sure captured it!!!! Well done!!!

May I ask? Why if you paint like this, do you paint in the other style that is so sterile and rigid?
I can feel this painting, unlike the others that are so precise and typical, this one has soul.
My choice of your work would be this, but all of us have their liking and styles. I'm hoping to
view more of your work in this style.
Sir, I see now that you are a painter at heart. I ask that you let your heart lead the brush.

thank you guys!! With respect to my "style", I don't know... I am trying to get looser with my strokes, but I tend to get picky... I appreciate your comments. That is why I am here, to learn and improve...
