Fitting colors for this little one.
You have captured the firey personality in the eyes and the posture. Looks like he/she can handle those hundred pounders of yours!
Great job, Marianne!

Nice work.
I would suggest some more darks to give depth to it.

thanks retha. i am going to work on his feet & push both darks & lights to give him more dimensionality. then maybe i won't feel like i need to do something with the background.

funny how letting it sit & looking for a few days helps.

Hi marianne - he is sooo cute. I like the ears - it looks like they are actually popping up and listening to you.
How big is this painting and is this oils? I like the colours you use - very lively.

I love the colors and the shine on the nose and eyes but my eye is pulled toward that front paw. I am not sure if it's supposed to be tucked under, or if that is the entire paw. Also, shouldn't there be a shadow on the paw from the head and neck of the dog? Was this from life or a photo? If it was a photo maybe you could double check the shadows and values.

marianne - this is great. I love the new shine on the nose and the shading of the fur (and ground around Sonny), he looks so adorable. The foot is definately better. You did a great job with all the suggestions. Also the lighter background makes him stand out alot more.
