Beautiful, both the model and the painting. Now how many hours do you do to get it to this point? Can you show us the actual photo you are using? I find your work absolutely wonderous. You have a very quiet feeling about your photos... almost private.

Thank you! I appreciate it... This took me on and off about 4 months. This is one of my gifts to them. I am also working on a romantic portrait of the two of them. I hope to be finished with it within a month. I have enclosed the ref photo I took of her... Thanks again...

Thanks for posting the photo. I'd love to keep seeing it as you continue. What size is the canvas?

May I ask why the face is so photo-like and the rest of the painting is classic? I don't understand your technique? I feel that this is confusing to the eye.

Thank you all. concerning the realistic face, THANK YOU!! I approach this with trying to convey depth. My idea is to control what is important and what is not... I tend to paint things that are not in the same plane with the subject more abstractly. So for me, her face is the most important part of the image, therefore I work to create as much detail as I can... The more closer or farther away from the subject, the more abstract.

Hope this answers your question. Thanks again...

I agree with Realist 2 on this one. Even though I think it is beautiful, it is a little disconcerting to me because her head seems to stand out so much in contrast to the style of the rest of the painting. It (the head) almost feels like a cut out to me. What I am thinking that would help a little (you are the professional portrait painter, not me, so take this with a grain of salt), is to paint her neck and part of her shoulders down in the same realistic manner and make the transition to the other more abstract style ever so slightly more subtle.

Wishing you peace and prosperity,
Naomi

Thanks Naomi, the more I look at it, the more I see a slight lightness on her face that seems to stand out... And it seem a little too smooth now that I have looked at it more and more... Let me see what I can do... will repost at a later time... Thanks so much!!
