Okay, here it is. I finally finished this commissioned portrait. Be kind, I haven't really worked in oils for a long while. I don't like the composition in this, but it was insisited that I use the photo provided because of sentimental reasons...let me know your thoughts? 16x20 on stretched canvas.

Thank you,

Mike

Mike - absolutely beautiful. The draping of the cloth and the shine on the horse is really well done. I have to say your trees in the back are well done - light and airy. The more I look at the painting, the more I like it. You have done alot of detail work.

Hey Mike,
You can't ask for more than you can get from a picture and withou seeing the original, I'd say that you did a beautiful job. The horse and the fabric are wonderfully done. I' sure that your client will be very happy with your work.

Thanks Phil!
Good for me, he was happy.
I'm a little hesitant to put up the reference photo, that's just my insecurity showing through I guess...

It is amazing that this is only a 16x20 it seems so large, not cramped...Just love it to pieces...This is truely a beautiful piece. Sometimes we paint and then sometimes we do more, we capture the spirit. Great job painter dude!

I love the colors in the painting.  The horse is absoloutly beautirul and very realistic.  The only coment I would make, (without having seen the reference photo)  is that the lady's face be a little softer, more feminine.  She appears to be in a time period when laidies were very feminine and soft!

Thank you!

I've posted a close up of the reference photo so that you can see her face. Hope this helps you see what I had to work with...
