Friends - Feeding Time.  I just thought of it, it seems alot of my pictures lately are of someone feeding someone!  Last one was ducks, this time a horse.  The background comes out a bit bright (yellow) which I think needs to be softened down a bit.  Comments Appreciated.

Really nice Maggie...I love the little tilt of the body...reminds me of when my kids
were that age...which of course draws me into the picture.

Very nice. I too like the tilt. It's
a very nice affect. Has character.

Love this, but could you give him something to stand on. He looks like he's floating. Not grounded. Otherwise very well done. I like the loose paint feel of this.

hello there,

I really like this painting because of it's subject. It;s a classic story that you've painted and because I like it, and you were kind enough to veiw my work, I'm compelled to give my critiques on this nice piece...The yellow ,to me, is not overwhelming but something is missing. After looking at it and coming back to it a few times, I want to ask "Is it completed?" Someone else had mentioned that the boy seems to be floating and that he needs a surface to stand on. Well maybe yes, but how about something in the background to further tell the story. It could be a wooden fence. It could give perspective or reflect light. Maybe he's under a shade tree. Maybe he's near an old barn or stable. What time of day? What season? What do you think?

Thanks for all your comments - I will see what I can do this weekend and post again next week.  I agree, now that you have pointed it out - there should be a little more something in the background - even a suggestion of where he is along with maybe some ground to stand on.  Keep in touch... I will be back!

I love this picture,  and the colours that are used in the blending of the background.  I think the subject is there, however if a slight ground/landing is showing I agree it would give it a base for the little chap to stand on.  I do not think that something solid needs to be underfoot only a strong suggestion of it.  I do not think that further background is needed as I think it is a hazey field in the back (at least that is how I feel).  Again I love it!

Well - here it is - the final 'Feeding Time'.  Thanks for all the input as you can see, it helped alot!  I loved the feedback - it makes me work that much harder on each piece.

Yes, but always open to suggestions. ;>

I noticed it does come across a bit darker than the actual painting.  It is hard to take pictures inside and have the colors the same as the actual painting.

My next one, I promise, will have nothing to do with feeding!  (Smile).

Fantastic. Wow, what a difference from your first showing. I love the strength that came into the picture, along with the base of the ground. I like that you have shown it with confidence and without loosing that soft mixture of blending. I think you did great!

Hey Maggie,
Good picture. I like the boy better without the big white hat. The posture and gesture of the little boy are wonderfully captured. Good job.
