The adult education center in my town has "open studio for life painting" on Fridays. This painting is from a few weeks ago; it's on a 16x12 canvas panel. Painting time was about 4 hours.

Nice for 4 hours, my comment would be to have more darks and lights I made it black and white for you to see what I mean. Retha

I see your point about having a greater difference between light and dark. On the other hand, I don't think it's very nice of you to stick your photo into my thread.

Hi storyteller

Your Friday open studio sounds great. I wish we had one here.

Let me explain that Retha is a courteous and thoughtful members of our forum and her effort to assist you by showing the figure in black and white is something that we do often here in order to share ideas graphically where words sometimes just can't make the point.

She went thru quite a bit of effort to download your work and convert it to black and white in order to make her suggestion more helpful.

If you'd prefer that people don't do that, it would be a good idea to say that when you post, since it is fairly common practice here.

I'm sorry if you are offended, didn't mean to do  that.

Just wanted to show you what I meant as future help in your paintings.
After all thats why we are here to help each other.
