I have painted portraits for years and it seems the more I paint the more impresionistic I become. I would like to hear what you think about this subject.

Attached is a painting I just finished please let me know what you think.

Thank you

Wayne

I feel that it a perfect blend of the two. Well done, you should continue in this style.

Thank you

It is hard to see the detail of a painting from such small pictures, I took a close up of part of the painting to show the impressionistic veiw of the painting. hope this works!

I believe that somewhere between realism and impressionism is what we actually see. We don't see everything the same at once...light and shadows and our own concentration affect the scene. That does not mean that we can't make lots of kinds of pictures...it's just that I think this ballancing act is what the human eye/mind does...and therefore it touches the heart.

..also, I think you might try taking a photo with a digital camera in bright natural light without your flash for better effect.

Did I say beautiful painting? Meant to!

Thanks everyone!

I would like to share what I think are the best mediums for mixing with Oil paint.

If you would like to watch a 8 minute free demo video about painting with these mediums, go to   www.ambervarnish.com     then click on (Demo Video).

Thanks again!

You definitely have some nice work here. great color values. However, when photographing, you should go outdoors with flash off and not in direct sunlight. this would eliminate the glare that I'm seeing on the canvas.

Thanks for the tips!

I use varnish in my oil paint mediums. Before the oil painting is finished with a top coat of varnish it has a shine that makes it very defacult to take a picture of.

The next time I take a picture of one of my oil paintings I'll take it out side in the north light and with out a flash take a picture.

Thank you!
