Here's one I finished a couple of weeks ago, just got the photo taken yesterday. I did this from resource photos I took while on a trip to Lake Michigan during our mission trip this summer. I loved the action of the boys on the beach surrounded by the seagulls, but had to move them a little closer to the water and fight the urge to make large waves. I have a tendancy to work the details in a painting and was trying to learn to loosen up so it wouldn't look like a photo. I wanted to keep the feeling of paint not film. I found I really had to work this by stepping back from it a lot. Staying to close makes me try to get all the details. How'd I do? |
