One more I wanted to share. Bruce mentioned it so I thought I would put it up for all to see...

Wonderful piece Mike! I like the contrast of light and dark
and the steam coming out of the nostrils is great!

very nice Mike. I hope everybody will go to your website to see the rest. Please paint some of the landscape around you. I have never been there.

Thanks, Dale!
I will paint the landscape here...as soon as I finish my studio. It is beautiful here, always something interesting to look at! I have been taking numerous reference photos every time I go to town and back. I see wild turkey, owls, hawks, deer, old barns,  and all kinds of stuff just waiting to be painted I'm itching to get back to my artwork. I'm very close on finishing my studio and hope to be back at it by Janurary...

This is outstanding. I love the pose you captured with his head up in the air. Thanks for sharing this. Gene

Thank you, Gene!

I bult this piece by painting the background from my imagination (as are most of my backgrounds) and then I had this reference photo of the elk (which I tweeked...the steam, turned head and the attitude) and placed him in there. I'm still not sure of his placement...I think I cropped too much of his legs. Oh well, it sold so on to more paintings...

It's actually nice up close and personal like that...maybe you'll do another with legs sometime.

What an imagination by the way...my daughter can work from her picture filled mind like that...I have to be looking at something...so struggled with the angel a bit (smile)...but the neighbor children like seeing it all lit up now...

Thanks, Michele!
We all have our struggles with the work that we do, but we seem to pull through in the end...makes the struggles worth while!

Strong and somehow delicate at the same time Mike! Very well done.
