Hey everybody! Boy! I've been busy lately! A while back I challenged my wife to set up a still life (She's really into interior design). She grabbed all these objects and set them up, I adjusted them a little for better composition and painted the result.
Meanwhile, I've been working on LIFE SIZE figurative pieces and I'm jumping into the world of daily painting (which I'm blogging the progress at www.ejc-art.blogspot.com)
Are there any other daily painters out there? As for my daily paintings, I'm taking suggestions on subject matter. I plan on having a rotation between landscape, portrait and still life. If there's something you want to suggest I paint...let me know! Get creative!

Eric,
Very exciting topic and concept. Of course your work is always high quality and beautifully rendered. That almost goes without saying now, and this one puts a period on that statement.
Daily painting... There was an artist that did a painting every day for a year and posted them on his (I think it was a guy) site at the end of each day. Is this kind of what you're talking about? I've gone months where I've painted every day, but not one painting a day.
I have a question and a suggestion. When doing a Still, do you try not to move your head and try to sit still? How do you get the same perspective?
For a landscape... From your studio, paint the sill of your favorite window with the focus on the outside.
I'll go check out your blog and see what you have going on. |

Yes, that's what I'm talking about, of course, it's been tough keeping up.

I try to keep my stool and easel in the same place, but it really doesn't matter too much because once I've drawn the objects, I can tell if I'm not sitting at the right position and I move until the objects match the drawing.

Good idea! There's nothing but houses outside my window, but it would be an interesting subject

| One suggestion on daily painting,, use a small canvas or board, and make your subject less complicated. The one above has a lot of subject matter. Most of the daily painters are painting single objects for their still life. Personally I think you should look for objects to paint that you like, or really love a lot. If you paint something that you are interested in, you will do your best work. Good luck on your adventure. |

| Snowartist, I apologize, perhaps I wasn't clear, but this thread actually addresses two topics. 1st, my latest Still Life that is NOT a daily painting (featured in the pict) and 2nd, my desire to begin daily painting...by the way, for daily paintings I paint on 9"x12" canvasboard and prefer to have my subject matter as complex or simple as I feel at the time. Sorry if you misunderstood, thank you for your comments, nevertheless. |
