This was supposed to be a quick warm up painting as I havent had the paints out for a while.  Its proved slightly troublesome though as my original vision didnt quite work out.  What had struck my about the pidgeons at the time was they were the same colour as the ground, apart from the beady eyes and feet and I thought I could cleverly capture that with textures and some bright orangey red.  It made for a very dull painting though so I tried something completely different.   I was thinking I could tweak the tail area and maybe lighten the background a bit.  What do you think, is there any hope or should I bin it?

Very different, I like it.

If it was me I would put some reds in the background to distinguish it from the bird.

It was much better before you "tweaked" it with the checkerboard effect, I think. That just seem a bit too contrived to me. Just my humble opinion...........Gene
