Incredible work! I've never seen better portrait work than this. How is it possible to get that kind of detail? Sorry to show my ingnorance, but these look like photographs there so good. I would need smoke and mirrors to even come close to this skill level. Great work, Jim

chirping in with the rest, i think its beautiful....a wonderfully sensitive and formal portrait..definetly deserving of being hung in a very public place as you mentioned....
normally? i try to find at least one tiny thing to suggest with each comment i make, so i looked dern hard to find something.......the only thing i might have done differently...is put a bit more of the flags stripe in... a bit of bolder touch of red, to do that though, you would have had to include a bit more of the stripes and less of the stars, so maybe a bit more ripple in the fabric to show a stripe or two....
it would have made the flag, a bit more prouder, a bit more mmmmm patriotic presence, which would definetly go well with this proud womans portrait....
see? i told you i had to look hard...lolol.. |

My first words were, "OH, my god that's beautiful."
I wish I could see this one in person. To study, such nice full rich color in her skin, the contrasts...auuuh nice, very, very nice.
A good feeling inside of me stirs as I look at her.

So what a suprise, twenty-plus years later, to find you here on the forum. I'm so excited for you! Congratulations on these exceptional accomplishments!!!! |

I think we don't do it justice when was say such a grand painting looks exactly like the photograph or that one cant tell it from one. The goal is to get it to resemble and to be "painterlly." I never realized that utnil a portrait artst at the Artworks in Ephrata PA one day asked me, "Is this painterly enough?" And I got a lesson in portraits. That is just gorgeous! Jane |
