Gorgeous painting Richard! That lighting on her face is fantastic!! And as Jim already commented.....your perspective is excellent!

Richard, this is so captivating and beautiful that I almost hate to mention it, but the area from her bottom lip to her chin looks like it's from a wooden puppet when I look at it straight on; however, when I tilt my head 45 degrees, it's not so noticeable. Could it just be that the colors appear stronger on my monitor than they do in real life on your painting?
This is probably my favorite of yours that I've seen on the forum. I love how you have captured the light on her hat, the man walking and the placement of her face, etc. I REALLY like this!!!

Richard, this is so nice. I love the viewpoint. I can see what Kim means about the puppet appearance of the chin area. I think it came about when you painted the area just below the lower lip and her rounding of the chin so light. I think if that area were darkened a bit, the line at the curving of the chin would not be quite so pronounced. Or maybe just softening that line would do it. It really is a very lovely painting.

this is a fabulous painting....reminds me a bit of Hoppers style...
i adore the figure approaching....because it makes the viewer wonder about him...does she know him? is she waiting, or is this a surprise?....

my one question would be, the shadows beneath the hat cast on her face, the color, i think i might have added a bit of purple, so the compliments would interact a bit with the grand sunlight and colors in the bg and on her....

i know digis tend to not pick up on subtlties so maybe its already there, in which case eh....nevah mind!
she is beautiful and reminds me soooo much of summer in my neck of the woods..ole cape cod....

The scene actually took place at cape cod. My wife is the model and we were on our honeymoon.

Hi Richard
Nice painting, but you need to soften that line under the lower lip a little and some how soften that jaw so that it doesn't look so square. Hope she didn't get too sunburnt posing for this.

This image shows a very good technique but, in my humble opinion, shows little creativity. Where are the emotions that Art should offer us?
