I visited Sanibel Island last winter on a personal expedition to find subjects for me to paint.  I took many photos and visited many areas of the island with the help of friends who had spent many winters there.  This is one of the scenes that I sketched and made photos of.  The sketches, I found were not as valuable as the photos in creating the scene as I wanted to appear in my painting.

This painting is not yet dry and is still on my easel.  I thought that I would show it and get some of your critiques before I put it away to dry.

Please tell me what you think.

This is beautiful work Phil,
I wouldn't change a thing. Your water work here is amazing.
Great colors that pop!

Yes - this is
'Love the water' beautiful
The white shore line and reflections in the water upper right aren't working for me.
I would take out the 2 small islands? (looks like one tree one clump of land - to dark)
Your poles are certainly popping.

This is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. The only comment I have is about the small island that is intersected by the the middle post. To me that is distracting. In fact, I think I would have left out the middle pole as well............ I love the way you handled the water and the reflections in it. Very nice! Gene

I was drawn to the bottom of the poles at first, looking at the reflections. I think that is where you would want the viewer to start. I didn't notice the little islands until reading some of the replies. I can see what they are saying but don't mind them where they lay. Beautiful painting as it stands.
