I just finished this. It is a field study. Any corrective criticism is welcomed.
Thanks,

I like this right off the bat... The light on that middle bench draws me in and I like the differences between the three. The whole painting is warm and has beautiful light.

Another fine piece of work. You capture lighting in a very dramatic and inviting way.
The only thing that bothers me is that the tallest tree is almost centered and extends to the top of the page which draw my eyes out of the painting. I wonder if it would be more attractive if it was moved to the right a bit and shorter (within the painting dimensions). Just wondering...

Thank you Jim, Alston and Kim. Kim, you make some very good points. I am going to play around with it in photoshop and see if I like it better in a different composition. I just may do another one eventually and move that tree in the middle to another location but then, it won't be plein air!
Thanks,
Judith
PS Don't forget, I am giving away another painting this month.

Very nice painting. Feels like a good spot for contemplation. Very warm and inviting. I personally like the composition. But the name really does it. I wouldn't change the tree. It isn't exactly in the middle. My eye zigs along the path with the benches across the grass to the big tree, but it comes back in with the tree on the left. You know what always happens to me when I change a painting after,, sheesh,, it just goes south.

Very intriguing, different.
The middle tree is distracting.
I really like this, allot of depth, pop, and play with color tones.
There are a couple circles that bother me, but that's probably just me too.
Some quick studies are better than paintings.
