This is a redo and may be subject to another. I first post this as departure from still life, because I wanted it to be a bit abstract, but I did not pull that off. Now it just Anthuriums with Orchids, it is large 39x50. The red gives it an impact, but it might be too much. I get lost in my my own pursuit of painting. Any and all suggestions are taken with a smile. I am so impress with the forum that I just feel lucky to have you give me your thoughts.

Adding the last redo or maybe I should call it finishing with your thought and ideas. Still looking for critiques.

Hi Shana

The two small Anthuriums at the back on right is too strong, their size depict distance but the color is the same as the front one, the Anthurium in the front has a very large pistil not sure if they get that big looks a little odd I would also make it a little fatter and lean it just slightly to the left, the Orchids on the left seem to be on the same plane as the Anthurium leaf on the left but the color is too washed out not sure if this is due to photo. The painting seems unbalanced with all the color on the right and the fades on the left. It seems almost as if this is a deliberate attempt at breaking away from the rules, I feel like I am participating in spot the mistakes. I think even abstract still has to conform to a few rules to make it work.
I like the bold color of the Anthurium on the right and I specially like the diagonal stem line from left to right however I think the Anthurium on the right can just grow a tad over the line and the next Anthurium.

Sorry I rambled a bit.

Thank you Anghwar, this is why I put the work out there for all of you to help me. This painting from the beginning has swayed in various directions. The canvas is bigger than I should have attempted to work on at this point. I appreciate what you say. scochran

Very bold, being so large. I think it would look good on a bedroom wall! If this was mine, I would move the stem that comes in at the bottom left corner, just out of the corner. I would add a small flower at the bottom left corner some place. Put in some more darks, maybe on the stems, as they don't have many shadows.
I like the painting tho. Very nice.

Like the improved one, with the reds less dominant.

Hmmm... I like both though I do think you've improved it with the second. I lust love an excess of red, even to the over done side. Art is so subjective and stands trial in the court of the viewer each time. It's even subject to double jeopardy by the same viewer. I say, step back and look at it an if you're feeling good with it, walk away and come back in a few hours and see if you're still good with it. If you are, sign it.

For me it's the color. For others, it's the technique. What makes you smile? That's when you're done.

OK, sorry for getting philosophical. For me the painting stands on its own as is.
