Being an artist is no given thing. We do have some talent, but it is mostly hard work, when I have trouble with something, I practice doing it until I have it right. I enjoy doing the hard things, like hands and smiles and even full tooth smiles. My portraits will not have the subject staring into blank space either. I watch out for phony smiles and like to show the subjects true spirit when I do a smile. This is all harder to accomplish, so it must be practiced.
