Hi OWS!

Yup....this is the painting I was thinking of when I went to the zoo a few months back I like the giraffe walking away from the foreground. Is that part new? The left side (at the bottom) seems a bit empty. But I LOVE those impressionistic trees at the top! Glad you didn't give up on this painting.

actually the giraffe moving off, is one that has been in it from the beginning! lol..i think the only original one!....the legs of the ones on the right arnt quite in yet, and a bit more spine work on the big guy to solve too....

the foreground is going to be textured grasses in varying stages of yellowing and drying out and a bit of sandy soil...i have been toying with poping in a bush on the right side since i removed the tree in the distance....but not sure yet....lolol....this painting has morphed into quite a few along the way!...and still have a lot of work to go! thanks for peeking in jess!

Man... I just like this one. Hot, breezy, almost heat lines. The gentle giants glow and watch for each other. They drink one at a time, or maybe the young one is just inexperienced and goes for the water... Good stuff!

Hey OWS - love this one, glad you are back to working on it. I saw your wild cat at the Pembroke art show last weekend. Looks sooo wonderful in person!

I love this painting. It captures so much. The environment, the heat, the slow moving giraffe. I can hear the sand blowing. scochran

OWS, How big is this painting and how much would you sell it for. I know someone who just might be interest. I can pull it and show it to her. scochran

thank you for the positive feedback!...its been a struggle with this one....lol..its changed so many times, till it ~feels~ right...that i think its been four or five paintings in one!.....

i do think now though its headed down the right path....i hope! lol....

heather!? you got to see the Pembroke show? what day?? how fabulous!...rarely do i get to speak to someone online who has gone to one of the shows i have been accepted into!...

did you see my other works entered?....not sure i have ever posted ~King Richard's Falconer~ ...i ended up with an honorable mention for......
will you be able to see the plymouth show? or were you just up for a visit??

the lioness, which i named ~Clan Mother~ didnt receive anything...but attention..~wink~...she is now officially sold, but the customer, thank goodness, has happily agreed to permit her to be submitted to the big Plymouth Art Guild festival, before i send her off....so i am pretty psyched about that....

shanna,
the african painting is 24 x36...stretched canvas, normally the only thing i work on with oils...
the only problem with this particular painting is? its already taken....the future owner is eagarly waiting...lol....its for my son, who has the patience of Jobe when it comes to me and my work...BUT,
i do and would happily take a commission if the person still feels the same way about the painting when its completed...i would say right now? its half way....and if my son is reading? i promise that doesnt mean another six months....lolol...

sooo, if you still wish to share the painting with that ~someone~ please do...and i graciously thank you before hand to consider any of my work to show to another..~wink~...as for prices...i am pretty reasonable still! lol....because lets face, we are all pretty much struggling in one way or another, and anything that helps pay the mortgage is a blessing..~wink~...

the lioness, which i started the oil painting on Wednesday, March 21, 2007,and finish date was Thursday, July 12, 2007 .....beginning to end with preliminary sketches i would figure a lil over four months work....i have no clue about hours, but i would never recoup my labor and supplies, if i over priced her....
not being in the center of an art world...lolol....one has to consider the area she is exhibted in and price her accordingly.....shippling included she went for 570.....she is 20x24....so the african painting goes for a bit more, but trust me....because i really do wish to share my work and have people, who want and appreciate it, to get a chance to own, i dont out price it....these prices keep my head above water, and doesnt empty my customers wallet...so we both end up happy...yanno?....
i am not associated with a gallery so i have pretty much full control of my work at this point...
galleries give me the heebie jeebies....lolol....

jess! thank you!!! i have saved all of them! ...for me? i visualize in three dimension so all poses? tend to give those lil bits of info i look for....so bring em on!...
you can email if you prefer to instead of posting here, but i wouldnt want to deprive anyone else from you sharing them with! lol........
is bal@bettyannlemist.com....{the email is on the front page of my website} and it has plenty of space! so feel free anytime ya wish!! and thank you so much! good references are priceless...copyright clear? are of the utmost value to me!!! so much appreciated!!!
thank you all for making my morning! ~wink~

Hi OWS,
I was helping to man the EBSQ tent at Pembroke Show, and was only able to skim the juried tent. Your lioness hit me in the eyes as I walked through. Didn't really look at individual art, didn't have the time. I don't think I will be at the Plymouth show, but you never know..... Congrats on selling the "Clan Mother", she is truly beautiful in real life. See, if I was on here more often I would have known you were there and could have looked for your other works.

Oops - got distracted chatting, forgot to put that I love the atmosphere of this painting, anyone else would probably call it finished, but you take your art a step further....
