I like the light and dark work you've done in this painting.
I just wish we could see more of the detail in it.

Thank you very much for your comment Jim. I do appreciate. And you are rite, the image is not very detailed: I'm not too familiar with digital photo yet. I'll try to upload a better one soon.

Good nite

I agree with Jim. But the painting is very inviting. It makes me want to walk down the hill and go inside!

Hi Linda
Thank you for your goods comments. As I was telling Jim, I will have to find a way to be able to upload better pictures. This one is normally approx. 400K and is too "heavy" to be showned here. If you know how I could ameliorate the details in the photography, please tell me, I would realy appreciate.
That painting was done on location and, beleive me, if you go up there (Charlevoix, Qué), for sure you would go down the hill to see more. This part of Québec Province is one of the most beautifull you can dream for a painter. There are good paintings to do everywhere you look: the sea, old homes or barns, hills and mountains, ships etc etc.
Well thank you again Linda and have a nice weekend

I think this piece has a nice peaceful feeling to it and I could live with in my home. I real like the shadows and the church just over the hill. Feel like I am looking through a window down the road. scochran

greetings and welcome to the site!

gorgeous....love your color work, very realistic colors...you have a wonderful feeling of depth with the distance strips of land masses layered nicely....and your perspective on the church feels spot on.....this could be a scene right out from where i live......i would love to see more of your work.....

its a problem here to upload images sometimes, so dont give up if you have trouble!..

Well done. I was immediately drawn down the road to the church. You pulled me emotionally right into the painting. And you have technical skills as well. Look forward to seeing more. dh

I love your compsition.  I only wish that you could lighten up the photograph a little so we could see a little more detail.  The mood is great and you captured the serenity of the scene.

Keep up the good work.

I agree that it is very hard to see, but what I do see looks good. I am wondering about the slant of the steeple, however. Is that steeple on the building in the front or the one in the back? If it is on the back building, then I would suggest lengthening the front building, so that the steeple doesn't come out exactly at the end of its roof. Do you see what I mean? The steeple seems to be leaning back toward the back of the first building. Or else, maybe the steeple could be moved just slightly to the left on the painting to accomplish the same end. Or am I seeing this all wrong? I agree with Jess that you did the trees and shrubs very well..........Thanks for posting.........Gene

Hi Gene!

Well, obviously the picture is not too good, otherwise you'd see that there is only one building (the Church...) wich have a steeple.  There is no other building behind the Church.  It is the roof who is make like that.

I agree that the picture is not as clear I would like it to be.  If you could show me how to make it larger, I would appreciate. Note that I do not have high speed connection, so when I want to upload a better picture here, I am not able to finish it on time...sorry...Can somebody help me with this?

Thanks for your comments Gene and have a nice day

I am not a landscape artist.....my trees tend to look like shrubs : ) So I can't critique something I'm not capable doing myself. I am just a beginner myself & see paintings and think......"How'd they do that?".....or "What an imagination!" So I'm sorry but all I can say is " Great Job". I do really think it is lovely & I want to go there!!

Thank you Judith

Well this scene was painted in St-Fidèle Village, Charlevoix, Québec.

Charlevoix is a real paradise for painters and you should see it at Falls: full of colours and...painters.

Do you have adobe photoshop? I open my photos in there, then go to file... save for web, and from there I can change the size and format into JPEG and it usually ends up larger than I could normally make it. Seemed to work for me. I'm pretty sure other programs similar to photoshop will do the same.

From what I can see though, it makes me feel relaxed. Very inviting.
