We are having a heat wave out here in Washington state, and I just wanted to paint something cold. This is just a fantasy forest as the sun goes down on the first snow of winter. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Jim

I like your use of monochromatic blue but with rich value and contrast. I think that it reminds me of a holiday greeting card because it is cold looking, but it still has that sense of sparkle and wonder like you would have if you were taking a contemplative, private walk on a winter evening. The mist and consequent absence of competition from stars is a nice touch. I want to go to this place!

Jim,
You have caught the hard cold crispness of night snow after a little melting during the day, you know when it forms a crust? I love the monochomatic palette.

Thank you Llarian for your feedback and comments. Your description of it is
better than I could have done. Glad it had a positive affect on you.

Hi Heather,
Thank you for your interpretation of this painting too. I guess if you can
get people to relate to your work, you're doing something right. Always appreciate
your comments, support and feedback.

Hi Jim. I liked the monochromatic blue. I personally would have liked more variation in the shapes of the snow and the forest. (Just my preference )

Anytime Frank.
Thanks for the comments. I know it sounds wierd, coming from somebody in Washington State,
but man I'm glad it started raining again. The heat was just to miserable. Probably nothing compared
to Baja though.

Jim, I agree with Heather about the snow having that crisp look after melting and then refreezing. It would be fun to be walking in this snow............"Crunch, crunch!"...............Thanks for posting...It sure is good to be back on this forum after the security problem...............I'm finally back to painting after my foot surgery so will try to post something soon. Right now I'm working on a pastel commission of a huge basilica. Wish me luck..............Looks like you are painting up a storm, as usual. Keep up the good work...........Gene
