In moments I submit this for my first juried art competition. While it may be too late to make any changes, I would still appreciate any feedback. Many thanks to those who helped me through the learning process of glazing. (This was done from a photo taken in Clifden, County Mayo, Ireland a couple of years ago.) ~ Kim

Oh Kim, This has really turned out very well. I Love the boat and the water the most. Love the reflective work. Jim

Really beautifully done. Can tell the photo doesn't do it justice.

Leon, Jim and Heather - thank you for taking the time to comment. Because I did it on weekends and after work in three and a half weeks, I was getting "too close" to it if you know what I mean, and was doubting myself towards the end. Heather, you're right - the photo doesn't do it justice. I'm sorry that you can't see the true richness in the colors. Leon, I hope to do well, too. Jim, I have not done reflections, or a boat for that matter, before and I surprised myself. I'm glad you all like it. Question: I would like to participate in the monthly landscape forum; should I download this again or just make reference to it here in "oil"?

Kim, Nice job! It's amazing how close we get to our paintings, its like birthing them! Good Luck in the show!

really has a nice feel to this one...i love the softness of the land mass...though the buildings/homes feel a bit sharp as they are further up the hill...a tiny bit of softening as they receded would have increased the feeling of depth a bit...
also! i adore the way the smooth water is done!....and would have loved to seen more of that glossy glassy reflective surface, even if it wasnt in the reference.... good luck in getting it juried in!! |

Thank you Klippie and One who sees. I really appreciate the feedback as I am primarily self-taught and always looking for ways to learn. Acceptance notices go out next week - I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
