Well now that I've been exposed to Hopper's work....I can really see the similarities in your style of painting.
Isn't it great to find sudden inspiration! Her skin seems a bit yellow to me. I would love to see the sand lightened up a bit and the water darkened a bit. I think it would make her tanned skin stand out a bit more. Beautiful painting!

Hi Richard, I like your painting and I can see why you wanted to paint the young lady. 5' b 5' is a lot of work, at least for me. Did it take you very long? |

| I can see how the photo doesn't show the work properly, however, your golden tones still show through and I can imagine the values. You really caught the mood of and body language of a young woman leisurely strolling down the beach, very relaxed and day dreaming. |

were you taking the shot outside or in? i find inside my shots appear more yellow hued....while outside, not in direct sunlight, they appear much more similar to the actual painting....
its a grand paining, and thats a cape cod blue sky ya got there! ~wink~....gorgeous color...the only thing i could say, is the colors in the distance are as vibrant as the colors close to the viewer, even if the distance is bright....as in this spectacular sunny day, they would be slightly less vibrant in the distance... another tiny thing, i am sorry, just beat me and shoo me away...~cringe~.... is what appears to feel like a slight tilt downward to the right side of the screen..lifting that retaining wall a tad might erase that feeling....or maybe i am just sitting a bit askewed this morning....~ack~... |
