| I made the deadline of today on the challenge, at least I managed to get two done. This is my second of the Goddess challenge, Aphrodite the Goddess of Love and Beauty, in space looking with love and the beauty of Mother Earth. C/C welcome. |

| I am absolutely floored by the detail in this tiny painting, amazing! This is lovely, I think I like this one best so far... did I miss something you are in a challenge? This kind of reminds me of Vargas from the 50's. The sheer outfit, the mist, the sparkle in her eyes, very nice! |

Anna, Thank you Anna for your welcome comments. You are dating me with the 50's remark, I remember them well, though I was very young.
Yes, the groups I belong to give artists challenges either for week or for month. This week it was "Goddess" anyway we wanted to interpret it, I couldn't resist now could I? The other one I did is in acrylics "Sea Goddess Amphitrite" she is a Roman Goddess. I am having so much fun with the subject, I might just do a series of Goddesses until I get tired of it. Only I think I will do them a little larger for a change, in this challenge they HAD to be 2.5"x3.5" to qualify for ACEO (Art Cards, Editions and Originals). My next will be Isis. My eyeballs are going to fall out I think!
In another group the challenge is - they have given three breeds of cats, we can choose which ones we want to do. At the end of the month the winning painting will be crowned "Queen of Cats for May" or something llike that. All of this not only keeps us entertained but gives motivation too. I won't be putting up all the miniatures I do, but once in a while I will. |

Just because we know about the 50's doesn't mean we were living then... we just read alot! |

Exactly! You are so correct! I do read a lot! Did you check out my other miniature in Acrylic Forum yet? I would really like to see if you have any critique on it. Thanks. Heather |

| Thank you so much Jim. I appreciate your appreciation. I think I have found a way to expand as an artist in these little miniatures, I have to have the painting in my head finished, because they are imaginary, and then just put down what I see. Is making me more disciplined in my work, and my focus is stronger. I really need to get a magnifying glass on a stand! |

morning!....{happy holiday!} ....i love your vision and sharing it with us!...love the soft heavenly feel to the image!....
the lil part that keeps catching my eye is this near shoulder....following from the top of the shoulder down this elbow...from that point it feels okay....but a lil hinky as it comes from the elbow to the wrist then hand.....and? its a lil something that gives us all headaches too....foreshortening...the angle is odd....we ~know~ what it looks like....but yet when we try to paint/draw it that way it doesnt seem to fit the puzzle quite right...
i tried looking for an image i could compare the position too....but failed..it might be easier to have you kneel or sit in the position so you can check out the angle of the forearm, wrist, shoulder relatlonships....besides? ya got the very best model....yourself! free no fees, and just sits and stares back! ~grin~... |

OWS, Happy holiday right back at you! Thank you so much for your critique. I did use myself in a mirror (my body doesn't look like that though - I wish! LOL) That is probably why the arm doesn't look correct to the viewer, my elbow was only slightly bent in a straight line from the shoulder. It didn't look like it needed foreshortening, but fresh eyes are a blessing. Maybe if I had sat on both heels instead of having leg to the side a little I would have seen the foreshortening needed. Will have to practice my poses.
It has already been listed for sale so can't do anything. Will keep that in mind for future self posing! If I ever save enough I am going to get a tripod for my camera and take the photos I need for poses (hoping of course the photo doesn't distort) I will still use mirror too. Thank you again, I appreciate it. |

Hi Heather,
She is beautiful. I love her eyes, her face, her sheer outfit and you are amazing. I do agree with OWS the very best model is yourself.
Anna. |

| Thank you Anna for your compliments, much appreciated. Yes I use the mirror a lot for any human form, to get the angles and poses correct. Sometimes without realizing it the painting starts to resemble ME, so I have to be sure to adjust for that. |

lol silly woman! heather! yanno how many masters used themselves for their models? they say that Rembrandt used his face all the time...repeating it in images!..and i seriously doubt, my friend, that you should be shredding any photos....lolol....although sometimes the mirror is NOT our friend...~eek~...it really can help out...
i tossed out a challenge once for peeps to draw their feet....do ya know how hard it is to draw feet straight on???? its one of the biggest challenges!...we know what feet look like...our brain tells us what the image is....but when you set up a mirror and try to draw them? its a battle between our brain and eyes!...its one lesson in forcing yourself to learn how to draw what you see....another lesson is drawing the hand pointing in the mirror.....a good exercise to further your drawing abilities! trust me! i got the funky images to show for it! lol.....
