Hi all, I am brand new to the world of painting. Actually I am brand new to any kind of art. I have done maybe 8 or 9 paintings and finally think I am getting it. Anyway I would love some feedback. This is a painting of Mount Baker, Washington. Thanks, Myk

I think your off to a wonderful start! The mountains look fantastic! If this is your beginning.....I think we can expect to see great things from you.

Yes a wonderful beginning! The dark foreground the light on the mountain tops, the sunset, the misty clouds, you must be a fast learner, hope you keep painting, you'll just get better and better!

Thank you all for your kind words. I never knew painting could be so addicting! Everywhere I look I find myself saying "How can I paint that?" I might have to get a second job to keep myself in supplies.

Welcome to a healthy addiction. I think most of us here suffer from it. I know I do!

Good job! If I were you, I'd add more detail to the trees in the foreground. I agree with the others that the mountains are great!............Gene

hi and welcome to our addiction! its a wonderful lil painting...and does show that you ~get it~..the soft blending of the sky.....the more striking light on the mt...and the foreground...
i do agree with the comment about the trees, by gene, that one slightly off center and to the left especially....but sometimes you dont want to hang the viewers eye up to close to the foreground with details, so they dont enter the painting.....so its a balance of effects.....remembering that our eyes...tend to softly blur details that are to the sides, periphreal vison, helps create the illusion of viewing a vista such as this....

the lil pathway ? i think tends to shorten the depth of the painting by going straight in...rather than a bit of a curve, or winding path...be careful too, of sticking that in the middle....sometimes you can make it work..other times that can be a nightmare probl

You guys rock! I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Yea I think my forgrounds do need some more practice/work. But with feedback like this I'm sure the little details will come together.
