I am participating in a Quick Draw event at the end of the month for a charity auction. I finally painted my first practice piece- and feel much better now about being able to do this!

Started with canvas prepped with Yellow Ochre ground.

This isn't a great photo- will re shoot outside later- but I wanted feedback.

What I see is that the curves of the far hill, mid hill & sage are too similar and the road needs some work. Not bad for the first go, tho!

Hi mksarts,

Overall the painting is very nice. However, I think the sky is a bit too dark.

Thanks Anna-

Here it is shot outside with better color. I will try a bit more cerulean & a bit less cobalt on the next go- the values might be a bit too much the same-

This is great, your values are fine and so are your colors. If the blues are too bright for your personal taste try mixing ultramarine blue into you mix to cool it down, or paynes grey (just a touch) to drab it. Good job, you go with it!
