first i want to welcome you to artists network...second...thats the most colorful lion i have every seen!....lolol...obviously you have done lions too and just got the titles mixed up...so i hope you know i am kidding around!!!
the tiger is gorgeous...and for so many reasons...the perspective detail is grand.....i feel the muzzle coming forward beautifully... the direction and lay of the fur is just grand...many times this is an overlooked detail..but can make a huge difference in the piece's realism....spot on with feature location!...ears eyes nostrils chin...line up perfectly.. and just look at the position of the ears....he is alert and attentively watching...
the bg color is a wonderful choice, related to the colors of the tiger, which unite the image but yet permit the tiger to dimentionally be in the foreground...
the variation of colors choices is just a pleasure to dive into....your directional lighting has brought the tigers face into sharp focus..as well yas your choices of lost and found edges.... the liquid effect on the eyes is perfecton.. not to mention that your anatomy of this great cat, the true king...is right on target.... this is a wonderful oil painting....thank you for sharing! |

| Good God man....! What attention to detail. I love the eyes! I going to study them for future paintings. Any tips on how you approach the eyes? |

Thanks again everyone,
Hi Jim - regarding eyes, I honestly think they are the easiest things to paint, there are just a few specifics to apply then hey presto, so to speak :-)
I've got a small article here - http://www.jasonmorgan.co.uk/Demos/Basics/basiceyes.htm on my tutorial site, plus this old demo from my site show's you everything step by step - http://www.jasonmorgan.co.uk/Demos/Tiger-Painting/Tiger-painting.htm
My learning to paint wildlife CD also goes in to eyes extensively http://www.jasonmorgan.co.uk/ sorry about the plug, but it does go in to painting eyes and making them look glassy quite a bit.
Hope you like the free demos
