I like your style of painting. The expression on your daughter's face is great. Almost like...."Are we DONE yet??" You have a really nice way of creating the folds in fabric. The cape and the dress look wonderful! My only crit here would be that the hair-dresser's left hand looks a bit flat. Good work! And you're lucky.....my son's first visit to the barber shop was a complete disaster! The howling....the tears running.....nose running.....hair in the mouth....it wasn't pretty!

Hi Richard, Like Jess, I also like the style of the painting and the overall expression of the main subject. I also like the depiction of the fabric of the cape. And, the lady's hair style is very 1950s- is it? looks cute. Anna. |

You're right Jess, the hand gave me a lot of problem. The angle was very awkward and I didn't make it work. Anna, it was in the 60's. Thank you both for your compliments. |

| Yes, that is a 60's hair style - how well I remember (cringe). You have caught the moment perfectly. Even though you had trouble with the left hand it really doesn't show that much, maybe make the fingers a little longer and lighter - that would give more grace to the hand rather than the foreshortening you have. This is really a blast from the past. Well done. |

Hello again Richard... I just love to pop in here and find a posting from you. I really admire the way you do Americana. The whole Hopper and Rockwell hint is true and grounded and you add your touch to be able to claim originality.
Incidentally, I was cool with the hand but I do see the correction for the better. |

Richard,
I was in a 1950's style place for lunch today and thought I saw a print of yours on the wall. It was either one you posted as reference or one of yours.
It's a corner dinner with a wide window on the right and I believe Monroe is sitting at the counter with about three or four others.
Does this rng a bell? |
