I've been going to a local open studio with models - pure joy for me. I had 2 sessions (3 hours each) to work on this painting. Unfortunately, I can't finish some of the details that I normally work on and the feet - well I made the mistake of not blocking them in so I can finish them at all.
your thoughts? |

| My suggestion would be to leave the feet in shadow, nothing says you have to show every detail in a work of art. Because the shadow is so deep at the bottom it would not create an imbalance in the composition. Just my thoughts. Very well done. |

I clicked on "submit" by accident. If you really want to finish the feet, put a mirror on the floor and pose your own feet as the model had them and paint from that. I have used this method often and it works well. Of course for this situation you will have to paint barefoot and we are in winter, but we sometimes must suffer for our art |

| I like it the way it is to tell you the truth. And I agree, the feet should stay in the shadow. Don't feel bad hiding behind a happy accident. 8^) |

| Before I even read the other replies, I had the thought of leaving the feet as they are because of the shadowed lower left corner - very natural considering the lighting. Beautiful work! I hope we get so see more works from you. |

its a beautiful classical type of image...i adore the soft subtle tones....
i wouldnt worry to much about the feet...i would suggest the tops a bit but yep let them just disappear into the shadows....i would use the shadow mix, pop just a tiny bit of flesh tone into it...and then just hint at the tops..because the shadows are so beautifully dark down there....no need to paint great detail into the feet...but just a suggestion....wonderful image!!! |

| there is a tiny lil area on the left side of the face...i thought at first it was the bit of shoulder on that side showing a bit near her profile? but i dont think it is? not sure cause we cant see closeup!....but you might want to take a lil look at that area and see if the bg color wouldnt soften that lil odd shape... |

| Thanks everyone! It seems unanamous, I'll leave the feet in shadow. Thanks also for picking up the odd bits around the face / shoulder, I'll work on those. |

Hello Materese
You have not to finish, it's beautiful like that. Just think the "non finito" drawing of Michel Angelo.

Great News!
First, thanks for all of your kind compliments and your advise. I did keep the feet in shadow, finessed it a bit so they weren't so cut off.
It was accepted into a juried show at the PA Academy of the Fine Arts! I titled it "The Decision". |

Two thoughts. The change in background color near the nose and mouth looks like a bubble. Try to blend it in. I would prefer to see a suggestion of feet Kassie |

I would also like to add that I admire the softness of the figure. My people continue to look like illustrations. Probably because I began with a three year course in illustration. Kassie |
