As I was painting this portrait, the pose reminded me of a pose of one of the ballerinas in a Degas painting. So I decided to incorporate a Degas print into the painting. The portrait suddenly took on a new life. What do you think?

Great idea!!   The Degas looks almost like an original Degas.   I wish I could see the portrait of the girl in better detail.   On my computer screen she looks a bit flat, but I'm sure it's because of the screen image that I can't see the change in values, etc.   I like it, though.   I don't know how I missed this one earlier in the month.   I really like your idea of incorporating the painting in your painting!

The colors you used create an odd mood. It is not a bad mood, just odd. Lends itself to a lot of mystery about the content. There is something about her dress...the color, the use/lack of shading...I can't put my finger on it, but it is almost as if she is not grounded/placed into the rest of the image. She doesn't quite exist on the chair.

I like the piece overall!

Great idea. It makes the young girls thoughts come to life. The painting sets the thoughts on the girls face. A ver calming painting. Well done.

I love this. I think the simple details of the girl and her clothing vs. the more intricate detail work in the painting is just amazing!
