My granddaughter looked so Elizabethan I used her as the model.

I am sure that she didn't sit still for this. Did you work from a photo? Children are so challenging to do,getting those porportions right makes you really have to pay attention. My children always look too old, your grand daughter looks to be a 1-2 years old. How many different mediums (what were they) did you use? scochran

Hi Shana, I used color pencils and pastel on tracing paper. Yes, I used a photo for reference
and she was less than two years old. Thanks for your interest. Richard

Hi Richard,
I like your portrait of your granddaughter. How long did this take you?

Hi Leon,
How long did it take me? The reasearch and planning took some time and the rendering
took the rest, about two hours.

You are right Richard, she does look Elizabethan. Very nicely rendered. Does tracing paper work stand up over time or does it crinkle? It would be a shame if this crinkled on you.

Thank you Heather for your comment on my rendering. About 10 years ago I did a sketch of
Marilyn Monroe in pencil on tracing paper as a prelimanary tonal drawing for a commissioned
painting. It was a 30x40. I wrap the tracing paper around a piece of feather board and tape
it to the back of the board. It hasn't wrinkled yet. But it's only 10 years old. Maybe by the
time it's 70 the wrinkles will show.
