I have been doing these pieces for some time now. There are very time consuming and I would like some feedback on them. This is what I am doing for my senior art show and I am torn between these types of works and paintings.

Note: These are created with small pieces of magazines and catalogs glue to a canvas.

I like them! I did some magazine collage work in college and I know how difficult it can be to do this. What is the message on the first collage? The only suggestion that I would make (in the 2nd picture) is to maybe use some of the darker magazine pieces to create some shadows on the skin and maybe make the arm above the head a little thicker. That's just my opinion though. Nice work. Welcome to the site!

Magazine collage really does take a long time! I'm hooked on it too!  You might like to check out the Brazilian artist, Vic Muniz.  His paper work is impeccable.  Try adding a bit more form to your shapes, making them look a bit more 3-dimensional.  Try  various colors for interest...example lavender, and light pastel green shades in the skin tones. The viewer's eyes mix the colors as they look at the collage.Keep up the good work!

These are really great! I've never heard of magazine art before. I absolutely love mosiac works, and this is the same idea. Love it. The first one looks a bit blurry like you moved when you took the picture, and I think the reflection of the flash is interfering with the clarity and appreciation of the work. Good job.

I have seen Muniz, yes he is an outstanding artist in his field,
Yours are very good, I also love it, just needs a lot of time, that's for sure.
as do my mixed media where I use handmade paper to the same similar effect.

Good work.

I agree, collage can be time consuming. Many years ago when I was an art director
in an ad agency I used the collage idea in a billboard campaign for a a resort in Florida.
The billboard consisted of maybe a hundred pictures culled from travei folders to form
the sun and sky. Fotunately I had an assistant to put them together.
