Does anyone here know anything about submitting comic strips for publication?

Any information on comic strip standards for submitting for publication would be greatly appreciated. Website links, reading material or personal experience(s) would be helpful also.

I don't know where to start or have any idea as how to go about submitting strips for publication...or at least consideration for publication. Are there standards one needs to follow? Will the comic strip layouts that they sell at the art stores work for submittal? Can they be color? What do I need to know?

Any info. would help!

Thank you,

Mike

Hi,

I have some comics that where published in Holland I long time ago. I believe in America there is a comicbook code that has to do violence and strong langues.

I would buy some comics and look at the publisher inside. I know Kitchensink as a publisher, Dark Horse, Marvel,Trinity and such. Those are big ones but they do get new blood in now and again.

Hope it helps!

J

I think you mean 'funny paper' comics...right Mike? I remember there being a compitition a few years ago in the Phila. Inquirer for new ones. It's probably hard to break into...because the ones that are in there can run for decades! But I'm sure they'd look at something good. Lots of papers have parent companies today I think...which means that good comic strips get syndicated. You have to be able to fill four boxes a day with humor...but it sounds like a great job if you've got it.

(I think Viking should make one about his Centurian...is it your original charactor Viking? I keep thinking of him as the "Reluctant Centurian" or something. You know sort of a Roman Army Mr. Bean...not entirely commited to the process...!) Strikes me as funny anyway!

Good luck!
